Spring Pick Me Up 3 D Card
Do you have a counting list of how many days have gone by since you last saw the sun? Yep, me too. These wet soaked dreary days of Winter are getting on my nerves….and it is not even cold enough for some fluffy white stuff! Luckily, Spring is right around the corner but in the meantime, I thought it would be fun to shower one of our dearest babysitters with a box full of Spring fun while she is away at college. Even if the sun is not out, I know this fun card and treats will brighten her day! They brightened mine just making it.
When I saw Lori Whitlock’s Rainy Day 3D Box Card design from Silhouette, I knew I had my card. I just love this playful fun card with the boots and umbrella…it is so cute!
I had fun looking through my stack (better know as my stash of hoarded paper)to see what I had on hand that would make this card super cute. I picked a sheet from a set I am sure I have forever from Cloud9 Design called SorbetVIlla. The cardstock is all from Hobby Lobby.
When I opened the file in my Silhouette Studio Software I left the images all the size Lori had already designed them (they are sized to fit in an A2 envelope). I just ungrouped the image and placed each shape on my work space to be cut based on the color of paper I was using for that shape.
*Note, if you use this same design:
I had to copy one of the rain boot images with the flower to make another shape like that so each rain boot would match as the original set just came with one rain boot like that. And, I cut the bottom layer of the boots 4 times. 2 were black for the sole of the boot and 2 were pink so the pink would show through and make the flower. I simply just snipped off the bottom of the two pink boots so that they would not cover up the black sole.
Here is a closer look at my individual pieces after cutting:
I know these cards look intimidating, but honestly this was so easy to assemble. I placed the colored papers on top of the main shapes and then assembled from there.
Lori has some great tutorials on her You Tube channel explaining this process. You can watch that here. (The first couple of minutes she shows you some of these fun cards. If you want to skip right to the tutorial, go to minute 3:51.)
I gathered some fun candy and a fun spring chick wind up from our local drug store, added a box of Girl Scout cookies and an iTunes gift card and our box of sunshine is ready to spread joy!
Here’s another close up of the card
